This is a working studio, where you can chat with me and see my abstract acrylic paintings on canvas or wood.
A purple banner and signs indicate the cottage road to turn off at 1053 Brackenrig Rd.
The studio itself is a unique wood and glass structure custom designed and built by Yuillbuilt, who also has a mill and woodlot just outside of Dwight at North on 60.
Although I draw inspiration for colour from the nature around my studio, my love is abstract painting. I am an introvert at heart, but I am also someone who find it hard to keep quiet when I have a strong reaction. Making art is my way of speaking my mind.
The simple pleasure of mixing colours and spreading gobs of paint on a canvas brings back the playfulness of childhood that is so important to my process.
I generate movement through my body, making expressive marks to create the energy in a painting. My internal dialogue and feelings are translated through this movement into my work
Following my intuition, I explore relationships between shapes, lines, colours and textures.
My work is left raw, to retain the energy and beautiful initial marks, to create joy not perfection, and to leave room for the viewer.
