The Studio

Studio in the Woods is a studio devoted to teaching the art of metalworking. Non ferrous metals such as silver, brass, copper and bronze are used in making objects with volume. Traditional silver smithing techniques are taught along with other techniques adapted to making sculpture, vessels and fine art. Due to the level we work at, jewelry techniques are not taught at the studio. Techniques such as raising, sinking, chasing, repose, anticlastic and synclastic techniques are taught along with fold forming, deep drawing,English wheel, power hammer and die forming. All of these are combined on various levels to facilitate the completion of student pieces.
